Technology Parks in Morocco

Casablanca Technology Park (CTP)

Background: Casablanca Technopark has been established in 2001 and covers a total surface of 29,400m² (with an operational surface of 16,000m²). It is owned by a private company: "Moroccan Information Technopark Company" known as MITC. MITC is an anonymous company managed by a board of directors and owns a capital of 46,000,000 DH. MITC is the outcome of a public/private partnership with a participation of 35 % by the State (Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Telecommunications) and 65% by banks (Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion, BMCE Bank, Banque Centrale Populaire, Banque Commerciale du Maroc, WAFA Bank). The President of the Board of Directors is the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Telecommunications.

Casablanca Technopark in addition to common services, offers specialized assistance both at international and national levels:

  • Relay Center for subsidiaries of international companies: These companies will benefit of all necessary assistance in their process of establishment in Morocco. Moreover, the proximity of local SMEs and start-up in the same sector should enable them to weave the first partnerships necessary to any further regional development.
  • Training Center and tele-training (e-learning): Training of engineers and technicians in the sector of NTIC. Other spaces will be allocated with multidisciplinary continuous training.
  • Technological window of Morocco: Conference room equipped and spaces for meetings and expositions related to NTIC.
  • Incubation centre for innovative projects: An incubator will make it possible soon to encourage and accompany academic and industrial projects.

International cooperation: Casablanca Technopark has organized several international initiatives to multiply its working relations in a network of competences and knowledge with other technoparks and knowledge institutions around the Mediterranean, through conventions of partnership, exchange of visits and flows of businesses, namely with:

Bouznika Technology Park (BTP)

Background: The France-based Sophia Antipolis Foundation and the Moroccan Government have signed an agreement regarding the creation of a 116-hectare technology park in Bouznika, situated between Rabat and Casablanca. Dedicated to information and communication technologies, the new park will benefit from the Sophia Antipolis Foundation’s cooperation in its scientific and cultural animation, the creation of a tele-training programme and tele-sites.

The development of the technology park is part of the “e-Morocco” campaign launched by the King of Morocco.
