This is not a UNIDO event although UNIDO will participate. UNIDO ITPO Tokyo will introduce Japanese technology on water treatment and unique technology on water use in the forum. Full details on the World Water Forum are available at http://www.worldwaterforum.org/eng/index.html For some years, world attention has been swinging towards water related problems as global, not local issues. The World Water Council established the World Water Forum concept, a series of stepping stones towards global collaboration on water problems which threaten the health and safety of so many of the world's citizens. The 3rd World Water Forum, heralding the beginning of the 'century of water,' will take place in Japan in 2003. The Kyoto International Conference Hall, located in the north of Kyoto, at the base of Mt. Hiei and beside the clear waters of Lake Takaragaike, will be the main venue for the 3rd World Water Forum. Japan's very first international conference facility, the Hall is a state-of-the-art meeting and exhibition complex. Guests in search of Japan's natural beauty will not be disappointed with the Hall's quiet Japanese garden overlooking Lake Takaragaike. Some Forum events such as parallel sessions, receptions and other relevant events will take
place in Osaka's newly opened Osaka International Convention Center, and in several of the
major hotels in Shiga Prefecture's capital, Otsu City.
