Duration: 3-6 w/m

Duty Station: UNIDO Headquarters in Vienna

Organizational Context: The responsibility of the Branch is to assist developing countries and countries with economies in transition to achieve the objectives of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer of the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer, and to help these countries to comply with the provisions of this Protocol. It does so by, inter alia, assisting the Governments of these countries in the preparation and implementation of policies, strategies and national and sectoral programmes.

Tasks: Under the overall guidance of the Branch Director and the direct supervision of the Unit Chief or Industrial Development Officer, the intern will perform the following tasks:

1. Study the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer of the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer;

2. Assist in the preparation and implementation of policies, strategies and national and sectoral programmes;

3. Conduct research, draft reports and perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualification requirements:

a.) Minimum academic background and/or field of specialisation required: first-level university degree in Environmental Management or a related field and enrolment in a higher-level university programme.

b.) Computer literacy: Microsoft Windows, proficient use of processing tools such as Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is required.

c.) Language skills: Fluency in English required, good knowledge of another official UN working language desirable.
