UNIDO Country Programme for India 2008-2012

UNIDO and India have signed a five-year Country Programme of Cooperation (2008-2012), aimed at strengthening the competitiveness and productivity of industrial enterprises in India in a manner that would lead towards a more inclusive pattern of industrial growth. UNIDO’s counterparts  and the coordinating agency for implementation of the US $ 42 million programme is the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, and other relevant Ministries and departments of the country.

The key components of the Country Programme are:

  • Induction of clean technologies with the objective of developing a clean-green industry;
  • Measures to introduce energy efficiency and conservation;
  • Water efficiency;
  • Acquisition and development of new manufacturing technologies;
  • Standardisation and total quality management; Skill development; and
  • Investment promotion.
