  • UN-OHRLLS - MEETING

    VIENNA, 17 June 2015 - The Director General met with Gyan Chandra Acharya, Under-Secretary-General, High Representative for Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

  • TOGO - CREDENTIALS

    VIENNA, 17 June 2015 - Director General Li received the credentials of the new Permanent Representative of Togo, Kwami Christophe Dikenou. Li briefed him on the latest development with regard to the implementation of the inclusive and sustainable industrial development mandate, the Programme for Country Partnership approach, and the post-2015 development agenda. Dikenou thanked Li for his comprehensive briefing and for UNIDO’s technical cooperation.

  • PHILIPPINES - CREDENTIALS

    VIENNA, 26 May 2015 - The new Permanent Representative of the Philippines to UNIDO, Maria Zeneida Angara Collinson, presented her credentials to the Director General. She expressed her appreciation for the long-standing cooperation with UNIDO, and underlined forthcoming global events particularly relevant to UNIDO’s mandate, such as the SDG summit and COP21. The Director General welcomed the new Permanent Representative to UNIDO, and briefed her on UNIDO’s activities.

  • UfM - SIGNING CEREMONY

    VIENNA, 22 May 2015 - Director General Li and Fathallah Sijilmassi, Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean, today agreed that the two organizations will jointly focus on developing and implementing integrated projects and activities for business development, youth employability, women’s empowerment, energy-efficiency, water, environment and climate change. They will also provide guidance and recommendations to governments in the countries of the Mediterranean.

  • BANGLADESH - CREDENTIALS

    VIENNA, 22 May 2015 - The Director General received the credentials of Abu Zafar, Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to UNIDO. Zafar conveyed his Government’s satisfaction for UNIDO’s involvement in Bangladesh and confirmed the country’s support for the new Programme for Country Partnership approach. He also outlined new potential areas of cooperation such as capacity development and green energy. Li confirmed UNIDO’s readiness to assist Bangladesh in developing activities in these fields.

  • VEF 2015 STEERING COMMITTEE - MEETING

    VIENNA, 8 May 2015 - Director General Li met members of the Steering Committee of the 2015 Vienna Energy Forum. From left to right:Martin Ledolter, Chief Executive Officer of Austrian Development Agency; Anton Mair, Deputy Director General for Development Cooperation of Austria; UNIDO Director General Li; Kandeh Yumkella, Chief Executive Officer of Sustainable Energy for All; and Pavel Kabat, Director General of International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis.

    VIENNA, 7 May 2015 - Miguel de Serpa Soares, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Legal Affairs paid a courtesy call to Director General LI Yong.

  • MALAYSIA - CREDENTIALS

    VIENNA, 27 April 2015 - The new Permenant Representative of Malaysia to UNIDO, Dato’Adnan Bin Othman, presented his credentials to Director General Li. Li informed him about the proposed programme and the budgets for 2016-2017. He also briefed the Permanent Representative about UNIDO’s new operational approach of programmes for country partnerships. Thanking him for the extensive briefing, Othman commended the Director General’s efforts to streamline and optimize UNIDO’s operations.

  • CHINA - MEETING

    VIENNA, 17 April 2015 - Director General Li met MA Jing, Vice-Chairperson of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information. The two parties discussed an initiative to establish a global innovation network.

  • PHILIPPINES - FAREWELL

    VIENNA, 2 April 2015 - The Permanent Representative of the Philippines to UNIDO, Lourdes O. Yparraguirre, paid her farewell visit to Director General Li. Li commended the Philippines for their support of inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID), and Yparraguirre assured that in her new assignment as Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, she would advocate ISID and UNIDO’s role in relation to Sustainable Development Goal 9 and the post-2015 development agenda.
