  • REPUBLIC OF KOREA - CREDENTIALS

    VIENNA, 6 May 2014 - Song Young-wan, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to UNIDO, presents his credentials to Director General LI Yong. The Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the good existing cooperation between his Government and UNIDO, and commended Director General Li on his efforts to revitalize the Organization. Li briefed the new Permanent Representative about the implementation of ISID and underlined the Republic of Korea’s important role in the process.

  • EUROPEAN COMMISSION - MEETING

    VIENNA, 6 May 2014 - Director General Li held a bilateral meeting with Daniel Calleja Crespo, Director General of the Directorate General for Enterprise and Industry of the European Commission, and his delegation. They exchanged information on business partnerships events and investment missions, and discussed issues regarding industrial policy and strategy, as well as the organization of a regular dialogue on SME policies.

  • JAPAN - MEETING

    VIENNA, 11 April 2014 - Director General Li with Koji Omi, a long-time Member of Parliament and former Minister of Finance of Japan. As founder and chairman of the Science and technology in society forum, a worldwide network of scientists, policymakers and business people launched to respond to the challenges and opportunities arising from the evolution and spread of modern technology, Omi took the opportunity to invite DG Li to its next annual meeting in October.

  • COLOMBIA - CREDENTIALS

    VIENNA, 10 April 2014 - The new Permanent Representative of Colombia to UNIDO, Ambassador Jaime Alberto Cabal Sanclemente, presents his credentials to Director General LI Yong. Expressing his interest to cooperate further, former Minister of Economy and Industry Cabal Sanclemente highlighted the importance of SME development, and agreed with Li that developing partnerships with the private sector is of paramount importance.

  • JAPAN - MEETING

    VIENNA, 7 April 2014 - Fumiko Hayashi, Mayor of Yokohama, expressed appreciation for UNIDO’s contribution to TICAD V and interest in further close cooperation, including in energy management and women empowerment. She presented the project “future city” formulated around three pillars: environment, economy and society. Director General Li noted the relevance of the project to UNIDO’s green initiative and ISID mandate. Both partieswill work in support of Africa’s development.

  • SIGNING WITH KEMCO

    A memorandum of understanding was signed in Vienna today by Byun Jong-Rip, President of KEMCO, and LI Yong, UNIDO Director General, 4 April 2014. Korea Energy Management Corporation (KEMCO) and UNIDO have reaffirmed their commitment to inclusive and sustainable industrial development. They will work closely to promote sustainable energy policies and technical cooperation in support of renewable energy and energy efficiency measures in developing countries

  • SIDS - MEETING

    Meeting with Dessima Williams, former Permanent Representative of Grenada to the United Nations, Chair and Chief Climate Change Negotiator of the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS), in Vienna, 18 March 2014. Williams welcomed UNIDO's tailored cooperation with Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and its ISID mandate in the SIDS context.

  • ALBA - MEETING

    Meeting with Bernardo Álvarez Herrera, Secretary General of the Bolivian Alliance for the Peoples of our America (ALBA) and Head of the Industrial Oil Conglomerate of Venezuela, in Vienna, 18 March 2014. Taking place on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of ALBA, the meeting provided an opportunity to explore potential areas for cooperation between UNIDO and ALBA, such as a crude oil project to enhance the industrial development of the central part of Venezuela.
