  • AFGHANISTAN - FAREWELL

    VIENNA, 26 February 2016 - The Permanent Representative of Afghanistan, Ambassador Ayoob M. Erfani, paid a farewell visit to the Director General. He thanked the Director General for the fruitful relationship, and for the support and engagement of UNIDO in Afghanistan. The Director General conveyed his best wishes to the Ambassador for his future, and said he was looking forward to pursuing a good cooperation with his successor.

    VIENNA, 25 February 2016 - The newly appointed Chairperson of the G-77 Group (Vienna Chapter) and Permanent Representative of Namibia to UNIDO, Simon Madjumo Maruta, paid a courtesy call to Director General Li, who briefed him on UNIDO’s priorities and the Organization’s plans for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Maruta thanked Li for his strong leadership on SDG-9 and for UNIDO’s support to women and young people.

    VIENNA, 16 February 2016 – Dubravka Plejić-Marković, Permanent Representative of Croatia, presented her credentials to Director General Li. Li briefed her about UNIDO's mandate pertaining to the 2030 Agenda and SDGs, and the Organization’s developing partnerships with the World Bank, the African and the Asian Development Banks, and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. The Ambassador expressed her country's keen interest in working with UNIDO and its partners.

  • ITALY - COURTESY CALL

    VIENNA, 11 February 2016 - Michele Valensise, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, paid a courtesy call to Director General Li. He indicated Italy’s keen interest in supporting the implementation of the SDGs and the need to address root causes of migration through job creation. Li thanked him for the strong support of the Government of Italy, and informed him about some of the UNIDO highlights for this year.

  • GABON - CREDENTIALS

    VIENNA, 11 February 2016 - The new Permanent Representative of Gabon, Marianne Odette Bibalou Bounda, presented her credentials to Director General Li. Outlining her Government’s three priorities, namely a “green, industrial and linked” Gabon, Bibalou Bounda emphazied that UNIDO’s support was fundamental. Li highlighted the key activities of UNIDO in 2016 and discussed new trends in building industrial corridors and parks with neighboring countries.

    VIENNA, 10 February 2016 - Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs visited the Director General to discuss on-going and future cooperation with UNIDO. He invited UNIDO to help strengthen technical knowledge and capacities of local experts, and improve business support institutions. Li welcomed the significant role that Turkmenistan is playing in implementing inclusive and sustainable industrialization in its region.

  • MONACO - CREDENTIALS

    VIENNA, 9 February 2016 - The new Permanent Representative of Monaco, Isabelle Berro-Amadei, presented her credentials to Director General Li, who outlined UNIDO’s priorities in implementing the 2030 Agenda and SDG 9, and the partnerships with DFIs and the private sector. The Ambassador said that the Prince Albert II Foundation, which supports environmental protection and renewable energy in Mediterranean countries and Africa, could be a potential partner for UNIDO.

  • ISRAEL - EXCHANGE OF LETTERS

    VIENNA, 9 February 2016 - Director General LI Yong met with Talya Lador-Fresher, Permanent Representative of Israel to UNIDO to extend a memorandum of understanding between UNIDO and the Development Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MASHAV) to cooperate in the field of agribusiness development, especially in Africa.
