KYRGYZSTAN - CREDENTIALS
VIENNA, 20 June 2014 - Director General LI Yong received the credentials of the new Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan, Ermek Ibraimov. The Ambassador conveyed the best wishes of his President and Prime Minister, and their deep appreciation for the Director General’s visit to Kyrgyzstan in April. Li informed the new Ambassador about UNIDO’s ISID mandate and its inclusion in the Sustainable Development Goals.

SPAIN - FAREWELL
VIENNA, 20 June 2014 - Carmen Buján Freire, Permanent Representative of Spain to UNIDO, paid a farewell visit to the Director General. She thanked the Director General for the good cooperation during her term of office and conveyed her Government’s support to UNIDO. Recalling the successful achievements, in particular with regard to the Renewable Energy Centre ECREE in Cabo Verde and the contribution to the MDG Funds, the Director General commended Spain’s ongoing engagement with UNIDO.
URUGUAY - CREDENTIALS
VIENNA, 18 June 2014 - Faraone Machado, Permanent Representative of Uruguay to UNIDO, presented his credentials to the Director General. After welcoming the new Ambassador, the DG briefed him on his recent official visit to Latin America, and in particular to Uruguay. He commended the policy of the Government of Uruguay towards industrialization and its programme on renewable energy. The DG also mentioned the technical assistance UNIDO will be providing in the country.
SLOVENIA - COURTESY CALL
VIENNA, 26 May 2014 - The DG met with Danilo TÜRK, former President of Slovenia, who expressed his appreciation of UNIDO’s cooperation with his country and his strong support to ISID. The DG thanked him and the Government of Slovenia for their support to UNIDO’s operations. The DG informed on the new approaches in operationalizing ISID, including the planned partnerships forums and also mentioned the vital role that the private sector plays in economic development process.
ISO - MEETING
VIENNA, 26 May 2014 - The Director General received Rob Steele, Secretary-General of ISO.The Executive Heads reviewed the long-standing cooperation between their two organizations, dating back to an MOU signed in 1986, and considered options for strengthening their strategic partnership. In particular, they agreed to enhance the cooperation between UNIDO and ISO in the implementation of standards in industry.
GREECE - CREDENTIALS
VIENNA, 21 May 2014 - Chryssoula Aliferi, the new Permanent Representative of Greece to UNIDO, presented her credentials to the Director General. After welcoming the new Ambassador, Li briefed her on the operationalization of the Lima Declaration and UNIDO’s activities for positioning ISID in the post-2015 agenda. Aliferi supported Li's views on the key role of industrialization and confirmed her Government’s continued support to UNIDO, also at the level of the European Union.

VIENNA, 15 May 2014 - Ramesh Jaura (right), Director General of Inter Press Service discussed with Director General Li ways to promote UNIDO’s achievements. He was also briefed on UNIDO’s mandate of inclusive and sustainable industrial development.
UNITED NATIONS - MEETING
VIENNA, 15 May 2014 - Peter Launsky-Tieffenthal, UN Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information thanked Director General Li for briefing him on ISID and expressed readiness to promote UNIDO’s activities and share its success stories worldwide. As newly appointed head of Development Cooperation at the Austrian Foreign Ministry, Launsky-Tieffenthal said he looks forward to an enhanced cooperation with UNIDO.
CYPRUS - CREDENTIALS
VIENNA, 14 May 2014 - The new Permanent Representative of Cyprus to UNIDO, Marios Ieronymides, presents his credentials. The Ambassador pledged his Government’s strong support for implementing the Lima Declaration and operationalizing the inclusive and sustainable industrial development approach. Director General Li and the Ambassador agreed on further intensifying the cooperation between UNIDO and Cyprus in the future.
