  • EL SALVADOR - CREDENTIALS

    VIENNA, 17 October 2014 - The DG received the credentials of the new Permanent Representative of El Salvador to UNIDO, Carmen María Gallardo Hernández. Welcoming Ambassador Gallardo Hernándes, the DG briefed her on UNIDO’s mandate of inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID). Gallardo Hernánez extended her country’s appreciation for UNIDO’s work. She further voiced the wish to explore areas for closer cooperation, including with the private sector in El Salvador. .

  • SUDAN - CREDENTIALS

    VIENNA, 10 October 2014 - The new Permanent Representative of Sudan to UNIDO, Mohamed Hussein Hassan Zaroug presented his credentials to the Director General. He recalled with appreciation UNIDO’s assistance in building Sudan’s industrial sector which provides income for over one million Sudanese people. The Director General thanked him for the trust placed in UNIDO and confirmed the Organization’s readiness to cooperate with Sudan.

  • EUROPEAN UNION - MEETING

    VIENNA, 10 October 2014 - The Director General met with Györgyi Martin Zanathy, Head of Delegation of the European Union to the International Organizations in Vienna, who introduced the Women Ambassadors in Wien (WAW) initiative and invited the Director General to consider launching regular interactions between senior women managers in UNIDO, himself and WAW. The initiative aims to foster dialogue on UNIDO’s substantive work and business practices with an emphasis on gender equality and empowerm

  • UNITED STATES OF AMERICA - COURTESY CALL

    VIENNA, 2 October 2014 - Laura E. Kennedy, Ambassador and Chargé d’affaires ad interim, Permanent Mission of the United States of America to the International Organizations in Vienna, paid a courtesy call to the Director General today. The Director General briefed Kennedy on the latest UNIDO activities, in particular anchoring ISID in the international development agenda. He also provided information on UNIDO’s cooperation with USAID and the forthcoming second Forum on partnerships.

    VIENNA, 2 October 2014 - Director General met Mitsuru Kitano, Permanent Representative of Japan to UNIDO. 

  • BAHRAIN – COURTESY CALL

    VIENNA, 30 September 2014 - Ebrahim Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of UNIDO Arab International Center for Entrepreneurship and Investment and former Minister of Housing of Bahrain, paid a courtesy call to the Director General.

  • NICARAGUA - MEETING

    VIENNA, 29 September 2014 - Director General Li met Paul Oquist Kelley, Minister and Private Secretary of the Citizen's Power for National Policies of Nicaragua.

  • SWITZERLAND - SIGNING CEREMONY

    VIENNA, 29 September 2014 - UNIDO Director General Li signed an agreement with Rolf Stalder, Ambassador and Alternate Permanent Representative of Switzerland to the United Nations in Vienna. The agreement states that the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) is contributing a total of more than USD 6.4 million to fund two UNIDO projects, one in Viet Nam and one in Colombia.

    VIENNA, 16 September 2014 - Michael Schrenk, Audit Director of the German Supreme Audit Institute (Bundesrechnungshof), paid a courtesy call to UNIDO's Director General LI Yong.

  • IRELAND - CREDENTIALS

    VIENNA, 16 September 2014 - Mary Whelan, Permanent Representative of Ireland to UNIDO, met the Director General to present her credentials. After an update on the implementation of UNIDO’s new ISID mandate, the Director General underlined the importance of industrialization for all countries as a tool to generate employment and ultimately alleviate poverty, as well as the need for a green and sustainable industry to meet the global challenges of climate change.
