The responsibility of the UNIDO Office in Brussels is to ensure adequate representation in Brussels to strengthen UNIDO’s visibility and interaction with the European Union (EU) and its institutions; the African, Caribbean and Pacific group of states (ACP) Secretariat; the Centre for the Development of Enterprise; the UN System in Brussels; and the Belgian Authorities.
The office also maintains a close liaison with Member State Missions located in Brussels and has a liaison function to the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg and to the Luxembourgian authorities.
The main objective of the UNIDO office in Brussels is to continue to develop the partnership between the European Union and UNIDO further, with a focus on UNIDO’s priority areas: Poverty Reduction through Productive Capacities, Trade Capacity-building and Energy/Environment.
The responsibility of the UNIDO Office in Geneva is to link the UNIDO Secretariat work with the 17 UNIDO Member States covering UNIDO from Geneva, inform the Geneva Permanent Missions and Permanent Delegations about the work of the UNIDO Secretariat particularly in relation to Geneva-based International Organizations, and to strengthen the cooperation between the Secretariat of UNIDO and the Geneva based International Organizations.
