Industry is a key driver for global climate action, economic growth, and job creation. Carbon emissions from energy combustion and industrial processes accounted for nearly 89% of energy sector greenhouse gas emissions in 2021. At the same time, by 2030, the business has the potential to cut its greenhouse gas emissions globally by 3.7bn metric tons of CO2 equivalent a year or 60% of total emission cuts pledged in Paris through NDCs (Nationally determined contribution), which is an urgent priority and emerging need for countries in the space of economic transformation. Therefore, the manufacturing industry must accept its heavy responsibility for greenhouse gas emissions. In practice, success will depend, for the most part, on how quickly the industries can transition from "brown to green" by phasing out carbon-intensive productions. In this connection, a circular economy model can play a transformative role in avoiding emissions, overcoming resource scarcity, enhancing economic competitiveness, and creating employment.

In such context, the 3rd PAGE Green Industry Summer School will address key questions: how can the circular economy approach be a powerful tool for systemic transformation and a cost-effective approach to tackling the triple planetary crisis?
