Enhancing the capacity of developing countries and
countries with economies in transition to participate in global trade is becoming increasingly
critical for the future economic growth of these countries. The ability of enterprises in these
countries to trade internationally depends more and more on their ability to enter into
global value chains that are established by transnational corporations (TNCs).
The overall objective of the Trade Capacity Programme is
to ensure that the competitive supply capacities of developing countries and
countries in transition and their standards and conformity assessment infrastructure meet the
requirements of global markets.
