With a sense of shock and profound grief the United Nations Industrial Development
Organization (UNIDO) received the news of the bombing of the United Nations Office in
Algiers, which also hosts the UNIDO country office in Algeria. The victims of this
barbaric action are again innocent persons who were committed to helping people in
need and protecting peace where it was endangered. The United Nations Industrial
Development Organization condemns this senseless and immoral act and will not be
deterred in its commitment to carry out its mandate. Although deeply wounded by
this tragedy, UNIDO will continue its work with even more determination and
devotedness.
For all those who have died or were injured, for the colleagues in the United Nations
Office in Algeria, bereaved families and the people of Algeria, UNIDO and its staff
express their deepest sympathy, support and solidarity.
