UNIDO's cooperation with OLADE

UNIDO has joined hands with OLADE and signed a MoU in February 2009 to promote renewable energies in LAC, efficient use of energy, sustainable development and social development within the LAC region.

During UNIDO's General Conference held in Vienna in December 2009, OLADE signed a subcontract to elaborate the following products in selected LAC countries during 2010:

• State of the Art of Technologies: Detailed analysis of successful technology selected from every country.
• Baseline: An inventory of energy generation facilities at the national level
• Maps of renewable resources: Software platform used to upload geo-referenced information.
• Financing report at the country level in order to undertake an analysis of the market situation for renewable energy.

UNIDO and OLADE further agreed to organize an Observatory side event within the framework of the 4th GEF Assembly to promote UNIDO Renewable Energy Observatory and its results, as well as using this project as a platform to hold high-level discussions on renewable energy within the region.

A joint work plan for 2010 with OLADE has been recently elaborated.
