The Programme

The 2011 AFRIMETS Metrology School: Technical Courses specifically designed for Africa

The Metrology School will include key areas that have been identified to satisfy priority continental technical needs such as measurement uncertainty, mass and related quantities, electricity, thermometry and dimensional metrology.

Course content includes an introduction to the international scientific/industrial and legal metrology systems, the measurement area, theory, practical training and future trends. Introduction to metrology, accreditation, standardization, quality systems, international system (SI) and derived units, Key comparisons and Calibration and Measurement Capabilities, and laboratory safety.

The visits to industry and the group assignment will bring the full metrology spectrum into perspective. Delegates will also benefit from an important networking opportunity between participating countries.
