Duration: 3-6 working months

Duty Station: UNIDO Headquarters in Vienna

Organizational Context: The Unit is responsible for managing and supporting the programme appraisal process, providing guidance on its consistent application across the organization and monitoring its quality. It is also responsible for coordinating all administrative and substantive activities in support of the meetings of the Programme Approval and Monitoring
Committee (AMC) and the Appraisal Group (AG). It participates in the meetings of the AMC in an advisory role and drafts the minutes of the meetings.

Tasks: Under the overall guidance of the Branch Director and the direct supervision of the Unit Chief, the intern will perform the following tasks:

1. Research relations with donor governments with a view to identifying potential donors for the funding of UNIDO’s services;

2. Receive training on the administering of programme and project approvals through the Programme Approval and Monitoring Committee;

3. Research the methodological criteria and tools (including risk-assessment procedures) for the design, appraisal and monitoring of programmes and projects;

4. Receive traning on the application of the Technical Cooperation Guidelines and quality criteria in these areas;

5. Performing other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualification requirements:

a.) Minimum academic background and/or field of specialisation required: first-level university degree in Project Management, Business Administration or a related field and enrolment in a higher-level university programme.

b.) Computer literacy: Microsoft Windows, proficient use of processing tools such as Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is required.

c.) Language skills: Fluency in English required, good knowledge of another official UN working language desirable.
