Solution Forums

The GSSD Expo Solution Forums provide a venue for interactive discussions and presentations of successful Southern development solutions. Each Solution Forum will feature five to six presentations of solutions by theme. The featured development solutions will include Southern-grown solutions, South-South partnership solutions, North-South-South triangular partnership solutions, and PPP solutions and will have the potential for a scaling up of their development impact. Each solution presented will show its direct contribution to one or more of the MDGs in concrete terms. It is preferred that each solution is presented by a champion/key beneficiary stakeholder and not by the implementing UN agency itself.
All Southern development solutions (SDSs) showcased will address the following topics: why a specific solution worked in a given environment; the kinds of benefits that it generated and whether those benefits were equitably shared; what made it sustainable; whether the same SDS has been adapted to a different country context and, if so, what lessons were learned from that experience; what are the minimal requirements for another country to implement the SDS; the kind of technical support that the SDS-originating country might provide; and, last but not least, how a traditional donor, multilateral organization, or private-sector or civil society organization could support mutual learning and scaling up.
The GSSD Expo 2012 will feature six Solution Exchange Forums on the following themes:

Solution Forum 3
Energy and Climate Change: Focus on Biodiversity, Forestry and Land Degradation (UNEP, World Bank, UNESCO)

Solution Forum 4
Energy and Climate Change: Agriculture and Food Security (FAO, Worls Bank, IFAD)
