The General Conference

The General Conference (GC) is UNIDO’s supreme policymaking organ where all Member States meet once every two years. It determines the guiding principles and policies of the Organization, approves the budget and work programme of UNIDO. Every four years, the GC appoints the Director-General. The current Director-General, Mr. Kandeh Yumkella (Sierra Leone), assumed office in December 2005. The GC also elects the members of the Industrial Development Board and the Programme and Budget Committee.
