Duration: 3-6 working months
Duty Station: UNIDO Headquarters in Vienna
Organizational context: Under the overall direction of the Director General and the supervision of the Deputy to the Director General, and working in close collaboration with all organizational entities within UNIDO, the Policymaking Organs Secretariat, Advocacy and External Relations Branch (DDG/PMR) is responsible for the overall external relations with Member and
non-Member States, as well as with the media and the public at large, and for providing advisory and support services to the policymaking organs. PMR establishes, maintains, coordinates and monitors the Organization’s official contacts with Member and non-Member States, regional groups, IGOs/NGOs and the public at large. In addition, the PMO Secretariat provides substantive, technical and logistic support to the policymaking organs as well as their intersessional working groups, and performs protocol duties. It also provides guidance and logistical support to the Vienna Chapter of G-77 and China.
Tasks: Under the overall guidance of the Director and the direct supervision of the External Relations Officer, the intern will perform the following tasks:
1. Research the work of UNIDO's policymaking organs;
2. Assist in the organizing of meetings of UNIDO's policymaking organs;
3. Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
a.) Minimum academic background and/or field of specialisation required: first-level university degree in Translation, Business Administration, International Relations or a related field and enrolment in a higher-level university programme.
b.) Computer literacy: Microsoft Windows, proficient use of processing tools such as Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is required.
c.) Familiarity with photographic and audio-visual equipment as well as photo-editing and video-editing software desired.
d.) Language skills: Fluency in English required, good knowledge of another official UN working language desirable.
