UNIDO Side Event on Sustainable Chemical Management

Regional SAICM Meeting for Eastern and Central EuropeRiga, Latvia - 6 December 2006

During the CEE regional meeting on SAICM, on 6 December 2006 UNIDO CP Unit organized a side event on UNIDO's Cleaner Production Programme - Sustainable Chemicals Management.

The main aim of the side event was to support the implementation of the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management through UNIDO's projects and enhance regional cooperation in the CEE countries. In addition, UNIDO's new initiative on Chemical Leasing was presented. More than 30 representatives from the Governments in Eastern and Central Europe as well as NGO's, UN agencies and donors participated in the side event.

The UNIDO CP international experts, NCPC directors from Uzbekistan, Armenia and St. Petersburg also attended. The participants congratulated UNIDO for the efforts undertaken and expressed interest in cooperating with the UNIDO CP Programme.
