Global Expert Group Meeting on "Impact of Cleaner Production on Toxic Gaseous Emissions Reduction"

The Global Expert Group Meeting was inaugurated with anopening speech from Ms. Sanchez (UNIDO) and Ms. El Hadary, directorof the NCPC Egypt.

 

 

 

During the meeting the following topics were covered:

• Nature of toxic gases and their impact on the environment
• Existing international response: legislation and agreements
• The current status of the art in term of practices, standards and protocols
• Preparation of project concepts on toxic gaseous emissions through the implementation of Cleaner Production and adaptation of the concepts to country specific requirements
• Preparation of full-scale projects: standard formats, tools and methodologies for the development of high-quality project proposals
• Typical pitfalls during project development, based on the third party evaluation
• Methodologies for third party evaluation of the full-scale projects, including desk review and on-site visit and interviews
• Presentation of case studies in the participating countries.

The working sessions included a preliminary presentation from the facilitators of the Global Expert Group Meeting, followed by the discussion of country specific cases and projects of interest from the participants.
