Regional Expert Group Meeting on Sustainable Consumption and Production for Latin America and the Caribbean

18-19 October 2007 - Sao Paolo, Brazil

Recently, UNIDO and the Latin American network participate in the Regional Expert Group Meeting on Sustainable Consumption and Production for Latin America and the Caribbean, which took place in Sao Paolo (Brazil) on 18 and 19 October 2007. The regional meeting was carried out to discuss the contribution of the Latin American region to the international Marrakech process. Specifically the priorities and the Plan of action for Latin America were discussed, for their submission to the Ministerial Forum.

The NCPCs, NCPPs and industrial association’s representatives had the opportunity, for the first time in the Marrakech process, to comment on the priorities established by the Ministries of Environment of the region and identify the actions required for their achievement. In addition, they indicated their role in the achievement of the goals set for the region. Finally the representatives of UNIDO, NCPCs and NCPPs were invited to take an active role in the fulfillment of the Marrakech process business plan.
