National awareness raising workshop for Armenian companies

Together with UNIDO the NCCP (National Cleaner Production Programme) in Armenia organized an awareness-raising workshop for 40 participants, in Yerevan on 29 November 2007. The workshop aimed at highlighting the benefits of the implementation of the UNIDO CP methodology for the broad range of CP stakeholders in the country. The workshop was attended by representatives of governmental and non-governmental institutions (e.g. Armenian industrial enterprises, Ministry of Nature Protection, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Trade and Economic Development, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Health, Waste Research Center SNCO, National Institute of Standards, Agrarian University of Armenia, State Engineering University of Armenia, Yerevan State Medical University) and the 7 companies (RusAl ArmenAl CJSC, Deno Gold Mining CJSC, Armenian Copper Programme (ACP), Noyan Co., NAIRIT Co., Gajerorts Co.) involved in the CP programme in Armenia.

The company representatives were invited to present the achievements of the implementation of the CP methodology. In addition, the sectoral experts of the NCPP focused on the CP requirements of the mining, food and chemicals sectors. On basis of the challenges highlighted, the representatives of the various institutions took the opportunity to discuss the way forward in implementing the CP strategy at a national level.

During the final session of the workshop the UNIDO project manager distributed certificates of participation in the CP programme to selected participants and companies.
