International Conference on Sharing Innovative Agribusiness Solutions
From Farms to Markets: Providing Know-how and Finance
The first international conference to be held on a farm concluded successfully with a strong emphasis on practical solution sharing and matchmaking.
More than 400 agribusiness stakeholders, representatives of public and private technical and financial institutions, international organizations, donors, NGOs and academia from over 65 countries gathered in Cairo to share innovative agribusiness solutions and best practices. Participants submitted over 120 innovative agribusiness solutions, which were reviewed by a team of international experts prior to the conference. The most promising solutions, those that have already been successfully implemented and have the potential to be replicated in other developing countries, were showcased during the conference. Of these, twelve were highlighted for their particularly innovative character and their potential to help developing countries attract agribusiness-related investments.
Interactive sessions provided valuable insights on issues such as supply and value chains, market access and linkages, compliance with standards and conformity assessment, technology and value addition, and innovative forms of financing. Parallel to the sessions and discussions on main agribusiness topics, over 300 bilateral meetings took place - with an overwhelming success rate: the potential partners found common interest and business opportunities in the areas of access to finance, transfer of technology and expertise, and capacity building.
