UNIDO promotes South-South cooperation between Viet Nam and China

HANOI, 10 December 2012 – Representatives of Chinese lacquer ware enterprises completed today a visit to Viet Nam with the support of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

The trip helped strengthen business links between lacquer producers of both countries, and to discuss cooperation opportunities on lacquer sap collecting and exporting, the use of bi-products, as well as joint ventures in the lacquer ware value chain.

The Chinese delegation, led by Dr. Wang from the Institute of Chemical Industry of Forestry Products, visited Phu Tho province.

It also discussed cooperation with the Northern Mountainous Agriculture and Forestry Science Institute and the Hanoi University of Science and Technology in  research on lacquer and other crops as well as developing a student exchange programme.

The delegation was facilitated by the UNIDO Office in Viet Nam under the framework programme “Green production and trade to increase income and employment opportunities for the rural poor”.
