Productivity and competitiveness for industrialists in Jordan focus of UNIDO workshop
AMMAN, 6 June 2011 - Some 25 participants are taking part in a workshop on the Role of Productivity Improvement in Enhancing Competitiveness of Manufacturing Firms in Jordan" that opened in Amman today.
Participants will discuss different production cycles, including planning, analysis, evaluation, quality management, and best practices in the field.
The four-day workshop is organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and the Jordan Chamber of Industry.
The opening of the workshop was attended by the Chairman of the Jordan Chamber of Industry, Hatem Halawani, the Director-General of the Chamber of Industry, Maher Al-Mahroug, as well as ESCWA and UNIDO senior officers.
The workshop was designed to help facilitate the implementation of UNIDO’s industrial development programme for Jordan, and will help further partnerships and cooperation between the two UN agencies, Jordanian institutions and small and medium businesses in the industrial sector.
