The UNIDO Programme in Morocco aims to support the process of industrial restructuring, to boost competitiveness and to establish information and statistics networks

Activities planned also include: developing a rural agro-industrial SME sector; promoting sustainable industrial development; creating a cleaner production centre and an investment promotion unit. In this regard, the Programme spotlights: upgrading institutional capacities to promote competitiveness; initiating
a pilot programme for enterprise restructuring and improved industrial competitiveness; creating and operating an information and statistics network; and developing a rural agro-industry businesses with a focus on women.

During his mission to Morocco in May 2007, the Director-General and the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Economic Upgrading signed the programme document of Phase II of the Integrated Programme. The main elements of the programme cover rural development and strengthening productive capacities aimed at supporting income-generating activities such as trade capacitybuilding, modernizing the industrial sector and improving its competitiveness.
Director-General Kandeh K. Yumkella met with Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Driss Jettou; Minister of Industry, Commerce and Economic Upgrading, H.E. Mr. Sallah Eddine Mezouar; and the Minister for Regional Planning, Environment and Water, H.E. Mr. Mohamed El Yazghi. The event celebrated the official signing and launching of Phase II of the Integrated Programme for Morocco.
