Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC)

GOIC, founded in 1976 by the Arab Gulf States, promotes a mandate of industrial cooperation and coordination among its six member countries

Moreover, the Organization provides technical support for projects and programmes implemented within the region and other subregions.   In line with the Millennium Development Goals, UNIDO and GOIC will strengthen their partnership, focusing on:

Diversification and increased competitiveness of the industrial sector by reinforcing productive capacity.  This will be accomplished by:

  • Identifying, developing and promoting new initiatives and programmes for technical assistance based on Country Needs Assessments
  • Promoting private sector development
  • Supporting SME growth and women entrepreneurship
  • Promoting investment and technology including information and communication technologies
  • Upgrading skilled labour to support industrial competitiveness
  • Trade capacity-building and industrial upgrading
  • Developing a regional programme for accreditation, standardization and quality control
