| Title | Africa Foreign Investor Survey 2003: Motivations, Operations, Perceptions and Future Plans - Implications for Investment Promotion |
| Abstract | A survey of 760 foreign investors in 10 sub-Saharan countries with ongoing UNIDO integrated programmes. The data yields information on the profiles of foreign companies investing in the region, their motivations, performance and future plans. The analysis, along industrial sub-sectors and motivations (exporters/market seekers/resource seekers), reveals trends and specific characteristics and impacts of investors in the different groupings. Perceptions of investors on investment climate, incentives and support services are intended to give governments guidance for designing targeted strategies. The future intentions figures give forward looking indications of expected investment flows, sectors with the greatest potential growth and hiring plans of major employers. |
