General information

In 1993, UNIDO signed a cooperative agreement with the Walloon Region of BELGIUM.

The UNIDO-Walloon Region of BELGIUM cooperation arrangement is aimed at promoting business deals between Walloon companies and their counterparts in several developing countries and countries with economies in transitions, whch fall under UNIDO mandate. The Walloon Region of BELGIUM is supported by universities, industries and governmental agencies in the industrial heartland of this region. It is also supported by a national and international network (through Walloon delegates in 67 countries).

Geographical and sectoral priorities

Focal point in Brussels has no geographical restrictions. We currently work with developping countries and countries with economies said to be in transition, which are under UNIDO mandate.

Staff

The agreement signed with UNIDO concerns the AWEX, one of the divisions of Minister of the Walloon Region of BELGIUM (AGENCE WALLONNE A L'EXPORTATION). It has a full time staff of 125 employees and 67 representatives abroad. Five staff members are engaged in the activities of the Investment and Technology Promotion Center of UNIDO-Walloon Region of BELGIUM.
