Welcome to the UNIDO Office in Geneva
The activities of the UNIDO Geneva Office are governed by the UNIDO Geneva Office Terms of Reference which are spelled out in the UNIDO Programme and Budget Document for the biennium 2008 - 2009.
Taking into account the Terms of Reference of the UNIDO Geneva Office and the Job Descriptions of the UNIDO Geneva Office Staff the UNIDO Geneva Office 2008 Work plan was developed according the the UNIDO Results Based Management framework.
The activities of the UNIDO Geneva Office can be spelled out in general terms as follows:
- Linking the UNIDO Secretariat work with the (17) UNIDO Member States covering UNIDO from Geneva,
- Inform the (163) Geneva Permanent Missions (163) Geneva Permanent Missions and (11) Permanent Delegations about the work of the UNIDO Secretariat particularly in relation to Geneva based International Organizations,
- Strengthen the cooperation between the Secretariat of UNIDO and the Geneva based International Organizations,
- Inform Headquarters about Geneva events of interest to the Secretariat of UNIDO for participation or coverage,
- Collect for Headquarters documentation of interest to the Secretariat of UNIDO or publicize UNIDO documents in Geneva,
- Join in or provide support to Headquarters missions to Switzerland and Geneva,
A number of other activities have taken place and are organized on an ad hoc basis like celebrations (Africa Industrialization Day, UNIDO Secretariat Anniversary...) or high level meetings with the Secretary General (Global Compact, CEB, ...).
