China's Ambassador Tang Guoqiang presents credentials

The new Permanent Representative of China to UNIDO, Ambassador Tang Guoqiang, presented his credentials today to UNIDO Director-General, Kandeh K. Yumkella.

Ambassador Tang was born in Shanghai, in June 1951 and graduated from Fudan University in 1974. Immediately prior to taking his post in Vienna, he was, from 2001, Ambassador to the Czech Republic. Prior to that (from 1998), he was Deputy Commissioner with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong. It is not the first time his career has brought him to the United Nations. Between 1981 and 1983 Ambassador Tang was a staff member of China's Permanent Mission to the UN and other international organizations in Switzerland. He has also spent some time in UK, first between 1991 and 1994 as First Secretary and then Counselor at the Chinese Embassy.

Ambassador Tang is married, with one son.
