Namibia's Ambassador Ms. Selma Ashipala-Musavyi presents Credentials

The new Permanent Representative of Namibia to UNIDO, Ms. Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, presented her credentials today to Director-General Kandeh K. Yumkella.

Immediately prior to her posting to Vienna, Ms. Ashipala-Musavyi was Deputy Chief of the Namibia Mission in Washington DC (2004-2005) advising on policy and developing programmes to promote the interests of Namibia in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

The Ambassador has had extensive multilateral experience, dating back to 1991 when she was counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Namibia to the UN in New York.

In 1995, still in New York, Ms. Ashipala-Musavyi became Deputy Permanent Representative of Namibia to the UN, serving, from 1999 to 2000 as Deputy Head of the Delegation to the UN Security Council.

In 2001 she became Deputy Director in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Head of the Division of International Organizations. From 2003 - 2004 the Ambassador was Under-Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Head of the Department of Multilateral Affairs.

Ambassador Ashipala-Musavyi obtained a Masters Degree in Diplomatic Studies from Keele University UK in 1989 and a Diploma in Business Management from the Stratford Career Institute, Washington DC, in 2006.
