The new Permanent Representative of Denmark to the UNIDO, Ambassador Hugo Østergaard-Andersen, presented his credentials today to Director-General Kandeh K. Yumkella.

Immediately prior to his current appointment, Ambassador Østergaard-Andersen was Under Secretary for Administrative Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (since 2004).

It is the Ambassador's second posting to Vienna. Between 1988 and 1992, he was Counsellor at the Danish Embassy here. After Vienna, he went back to Denmark as head of Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (the Ambassador was also on the board of the Nordic Development Fund during this period. Between 1996 and 2001 he was Ambassador to Iran. He returned to Denmark, and from 2001 to 2004 was Inspector General, Ambassador.

Early in his career, Ambassador Østergaard-Andersen spent three years in Kenya, as Counsellor at the Danish Embassy in Nairobi.

Since 2004, the Ambassador has been on the board of the Danish Government Council on Information Technology.

The Ambassador is married.
