The new Permanent Representative of Malta to UNIDO, Mr. Christopher Grima, presented his credentials today to Director-General Kandeh K. Yumkella at UNIDO HQ in Vienna.
Ambassador Grima has served in various capacities in Vienna since 2004, beginning as First Counsellor on Special Assignment and rising to Chargé d'Affaire a.i., in 2006.
Prior to his posting in Vienna in 2004, Mr. Grima had been in Brussels since 2000, first as Counsellor to the Mission of Malta to the European Union, then from 2003, as Deputy Permanent Representative and Deputy Head of the Mission of Malta to the EU.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Grima served as Communications Co-ordinator, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malta (1998-2000), First Secretary, Multilateral Affairs Directorate, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malta (1995-98). From 1991 to 1995, he was with the Permanent Mission of Malta to the United Nations, New York.
Ambassador Grima holds a Master's degree in Diplomatic Studies with Distinction from the University of Westminster, United Kingdom. The Ambassador is married.
