The new Permanent Representative of Lebanon to UNIDO, Ambassador Ishaya El-Khoury presented his credentials today to UNIDO Director-General, Kandeh K. Yumkella.
It is the Ambassador's second posting to Vienna. From 1988 to 1992 Mr. El-Khoury was Secretary at the Lebanese Embassy in Vienna and Alternate Permanent Representative of Lebanon to the International Organizations in Vienna.
Immediately prior to his current posting in Vienna, Ambassador El-Khoury was, beginning 2003, Director of the Administrative and Financial Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Beirut.
Ambassador El-Khoury began his diplomatic career as Chief of Cabinet of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lebanon, a post he held until 1983, when he moved to the French Embassy in Cairo. After Cairo, Mr. El-Khoury took up his first posting in Vienna.
In 1992, when the Ambassador left Vienna, he moved back to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beirut as Head of the American Affairs Division in the Department of Political and Consular Affairs.
In 1994 Mr. El-Khoury moved to Bonn as Counselor at the Lebanese Embassy. From 1996 to 1999 he was in Brussels as Counselor and Permanent Representative of Lebanon to the Commission of the European Union. From 1999 to 2003, Mr. El-Khoury was Ambassador of Lebanon to Brazil.
The Ambassador has a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Political and Administrative Science as well as Masters degree in Public Law, all from the Lebanese University. He is married with two children. <form method="Post" action="/data/Person/Person.cfm">
