The new Permanent Representative of Romania to UNIDO, Ambassador Cornel Feruţă presented his credentials today to UNIDO Director-General, Kandeh K. Yumkella.

It is the Ambassadors second posting to Vienna.  From March 2000 to July 2004, he was with the Permanent Mission of Romania to the International Organizations in Vienna. Immediately prior to his current appointment Ambassador Feruţă was, from January 2005 to June 2007, Director of the Minister's Cabinet in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ambassador joined the Foreign Service in January 1998 as a diplomat in the Minister's Cabinet for the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). After his Vienna posting he moved back to Romania as Director of the Western Balkans and Regional Cooperation Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ambassador Feruţă has a Masters in International Relations from the Faculty of Political and Administrative Sciences, Bucharest University. During the period of his tertiary studies (1993 to 1998) he worked as a journalist and foreign policy editor.

Mr. Feruţă is married with two children.
