Welcome to the UNIDO Office in New York

UNIDO's New York Office is responsible for representing the Organization at the United Nations Headquarters in New York and for ensuring that UNIDO is kept informed of the relevant discussions that are taking place in New York. It also aims to strengthen UNIDO’s visibility and interaction with the United Nations system and other development/financing agencies based in New York and Washington. 

The Office is headed by George Assaf, Director and Representative of UNIDO to the UN and Other International Organizations.

Graham Clough is the Deputy UNIDO Representative to the UN and other international organizations.

Josieline Genio is the Senior Administrative Secretary in the Office.

The main functions of the office are to:

  • Facilitate the strategic positioning and contributions of UNIDO on critical development issues, particularly in connection with major events related to international development.
  • Help liaise and coordinate UNIDO activities with the United Nation system and other development finance agencies, as well as civil society organizations.
  • Represent UNIDO at political and inter-agency meetings.
  • Prepare and deliver statements on behalf of UNIDO.
  • Provide information, analysis and advice to Headquarters in connection with the above.
  • Provide programmatic support at the request of Headquarters.

The New York Office participates in numerous events related to industrial development in order to ensure that stakeholders better understand the relevance of industrial development for the elimination of poverty and for the achievement of the other internationally agreed development goals.
