Director General Li meets President Xi during official visit to China
BEIJING, 10 November 2013 - XI Jinping, the President of the People's Republic of China, today met with LI Yong, the Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). Director General Li highly commended the fruitful cooperation that has existed between China and UNIDO for more than 40 years. He briefed President Xi about the 15th session of the UNIDO General Conference to be held in Lima, Peru from 2 to 6 December, and shared with Xi his new vision for UNIDO with a focus on Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development (ISID). President Xi spoke highly of UNIDO praising the Organization for helping developing countries achieve industrial development. He pointed out that China's cooperation with UNIDO had synchronized with China's reform and process of openness, saying that UNIDO had made a positive contribution to this process.
HANGZHOU, China, 8 November 2013 – Director General Li today visited the International Center on Small Hydrow Power (ICSHP). The Director of the ICSHP, Liu Heng, briefed him on technical cooperation projects and activities implemented by the Center in recent years, and on joint efforts undertaken with UNIDO related to the publication of the World Small Hydro Power Development Report 2013, which was launched at the 6th Hydro Power for Today Forum on 29 October in Campinas, Brazil. The Director General expressed his support for the ICSHP and his plans to expand cooperation activities on small hydro power in developing countries.
GUANGZHOU, China, 8 November 2013 – The Director General delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the 2nd China-Pacific Island Countries Economic Development and Cooperation Forum and China International Green Innovative Products and Technologies Show 2013. He emphasized the importance of green technology and sustainable industrial development and noted his plan to support the development of local agro-processing and renewable energy in Pacific Island Countries. Vice Premier, Wang Yang, made a keynote speech. The Heads of State of the Pacific Island Countries and the Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat also delivered statements.
