ISLAMABAD, 8 June 2014 - A two-day exhibition titled “Women in the creative industry”, that ended today in Islamabad, highlighted women’s economic empowerment in Pakistan.
It was organized by the United Nations and Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and Serena Hotels, and provided a platform to showcase the talents and achievements of women entrepreneurs who have been trained under UNIDO’s Women Entrepreneurship Development Programme. The programme focuses on promoting gender integration in creative, non-traditional sub-sectors.
The exhibition, which was inaugurated by Khizar Hayat Khan, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Industries and Production, displayed a diverse range of creative and cultural products for decorative and daily use, including fashion design, home textiles, jewelry, marble mosaic, inlay products and handicrafts.
Aspiring Pakistani women entrepreneurs have participated in numerous training courses conducted by UNIDO.
