Heads of UNIDO and AfDB discuss solutions for global economic growth

TUNIS, 18 February 2013 - UNIDO Director General, Kandeh K. Yumkella, met today with the President of the African Development Bank Group, Donald Kabaruka, to discuss the global agenda of the World Economic Forum (WEF) with a focus on energy and infrastructure investments in Africa.

Both Kaberuka and Yumkella participated in this year’s WEF in Davos, which focused on innovation, technology, agricultural transformation, education, governance, infrastructure, SMEs and international partnerships.

President Kaberuka highlighted the critical need for leaders from all corners of the world to come together and brainstorm on solutions that would give global economic growth a big push.

Our meeting highlighted efforts to realize resources, including in the field of energy, as well as sector reforms in the continent, said Yumkella.
