MAPUTO, 4 July 2014 - The second Quality Awards ceremony will take place in the capital of Mozambique on 15 August. It will be part of the CTA Gala (Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique), and is expected to be attended by some 200 participants and honored by the President of Republic.
The Quality Awards in Mozambique were established to distinguish companies and organizations in their path to quality, so as an entrepreneur female and an individual for the work in the quality of their organizations. The awards for the companies and organizations have four categories that distinguish the organization, the product, the service and the exports. In each of these categories a large company and a small and medium company can be awarded.
As part of the project “Competir com Qualidade” or Competing with Quality, UNIDO helped Mozambique to develop its own quality awards to enable companies’ participation in the regional awards. Made possible by the financial support of the European Union and the Government of Austria, “Competir com Qualidade” seeks to enhance the level of development and competitiveness of private sector companies in Mozambique.
In 2014, the awards were launched on 21 May by the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Armando Inroga, on the occasion of the World Metrology Day, . The ceremony was held in the National Institute for Standardization and Quality (INNOQ).
The winners in Mozambique receive public recognition and visibility for their merit in the quality work and become candidates for the Southern African Development Community (SADC) regional awards, as it happened in 2013, where one of the Mozambican Quality Awards winners, FUNAE, received the SADC Award as Best Organization of the Year 2013.
