UNIDO Director General meets Prime Minister of Côte d'Ivoire

ABIDJAN, 26 March 2013 – The Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Kandeh K. Yumkella, met today with Prime Minister Daniel Kablan Duncan of Côte d'Ivoire.

Prime Minister Duncan expressed his satisfaction with the good cooperation between UNIDO and his country.

UNIDO has an ongoing portfolio of 10 projects totaling some EUR 22 million in areas such as industrial policy, youth employment and vocational training, industrial upgrading, trade capacity building, and energy and environment.

Prime Minister Duncan requested UNIDO's support for the organization of a Forum under the theme "Investing in Côte d'Ivoire" to be held in January 2014.

Prime Minister Duncan and Director General Yumkella also discussed the possibility of jointly organizing a workshop for policy makers and private sector companies during the November 2013 International Gas Union (IGU) Conference to be held in Abidjan. The Conference will be dedicated to regional integration of West African gas markets.
