UNIDO, Vietrade partner to develop green branding for handicraft sector
HANOI, 21 November 2012 – The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) today organized a workshop to support the creation of a “green” branding initiative for the handicraft sector.
UNIDO experts Rebecca Reubens and Pham Huyen Kieu conducted the workshop.
“Handicrafts contribute to exports, employment and income generation for a large number of the population, and play a role in preserving the rich cultural heritage of the country,” said Patrick Gilabert, UNIDO Representative to Viet Nam. “A good brand, a green image and reputation will allow companies to compete on the market. It is necessary to have a strong national and provincial brand for all handicrafts made in Viet Nam.”
The workshop was held under the framework of the programme on Green production and trade to increase income and employment opportunities for the rural poor, which is being implemented jointly by UNIDO and Vietrade.
