Industrial Statistics

UNIDO is the only organization that maintains databases on detailed key industrial statistics with worldwide coverage. UNIDO, in collaboration with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), compiles, stores and disseminates such global statistics. UNIDO collects national data directly from all countries and areas that are not members of OECD, while OECD collects data for its member states and provides them to UNIDO in order to complete the global coverage of UNIDO's industrial statistics databases.

To generate useful statistical information for a wide audience including government officials, researchers, industrialists and potential investors, UNIDO attaches primary importance in its statistical work to increased international comparability of data in terms of statistical consistency, definition, classification and period coverage. UNIDO also conducts empirical research on specific topics such as international competitiveness and sustainable industrial development. Furthermore, it provides technical assistance to national institutions in developing industrial statistics capabilities.

Publications

The Industrial Development Report is one of UNIDO's flagship publications. It provides updated information and analysis on key trends, challenges and opportunities in the world economy pertaining to industry and industrial development to decision-makers in government and the private sector, the development community and scholars

Database and Country Statistics
