Conclusions
This case study presented possible remediation strategy of site contaminated by hydrocarbons with the use of on-site thermal desorption and bioremediation processes as examples of the non-combustion technology of hydrocarbon waste destruction. This type of actions is currently being promoted by the Stockholm Convention and the destruction technologies used on-site did not pose harmful risk to human populations living nearby. Masterplan prepared for the site included not only remediation strategies and monitoring but also actions to be taken in the future to fully rehabilitate the area. Final stage of site reclamation includes sustainable development of residential and commercial facilities which will set new standards for urban design.
