Round Table 6

Transition in Eastern Europe - 15 Years After

Round Table 6 -Wednesday, 3 December 2003, 11:30-13:30 CET - Conference Room B

The sixth Round Table on Transition in Eastern Europe - 15 Years After, discussed the special problems and experiences of the Eastern European countries in their efforts to transform themselves from planned to market economies.

In particular, UNIDO's experience in various areas - such as small enterprise development, the role of the business community and the private sector and technology foresight activities - provided the backdrop for discussion on those subjects. Again the objective was to identify key elements and UNIDO's role in strengthening those elements, which help in alleviating the structural impediments to economic growth and to the realization of the MDGs.
