LEBANON - FAREWELL VISIT
VIENNA, 27 January 2015 - The Permanent Representative of Lebanon to UNIDO, Ambassador Ishaya El-Khoury, paid his farewell visit to the Director General. Thanking him for his contribution to the work of UNIDO, the Director General assured the Permanent Representative that UNIDO would continue supporting his country, in particular in the area of industrial parks. He also mentioned his intention to move ahead with private sector development and renewable energy.
HUNGARY - CREDENTIALS
VIENNA, 22 December 2014 - The new Permanent Representative of Hungary to UNIDO, Károly Dán, presented his credentials to the Director General . Highlighting the ongoing good relations between UNIDO and Hungary, the Director General conveyed his wish to further strengthen the cooperation. Confirming his intention to build on the existing good relations, the Ambassador underlined his Government’s long-standing experience in international development and its readiness to support ISID.
PANAMA - CREDENTIALS
VIENNA, 22 December 2014 - The Director General welcomed Gloria del Carmen Young Chizmar, Permanent Representative of Panama to UNIDO. He informed the Ambassador about the activities developed in the past year to implement ISID, which is also reflected in the SDGs. Young confirmed her Government’s interest in working with UNIDO in particular on environmental issues and in sharing knowledge on environmental development in general.
LEAGUE OF ARAB STATES - CREDENTIALS
VIENNA, 22 December 2014 - Wael Nasser Eddin Al-Assad, Representative of the League of Arab States, presented his credentials to the Director General. The Director General welcomed Al-Assad and briefed him on the ISID mandate UNIDO has been implementing, the post-2015 process with in particular the inclusion of industrialization in the SDGs, and the outcomes of the two ISID Forums and UNIDO’s new operational approach.
CCREEE - MEETING
VIENNA, 19 December 2014 - Director General Li and Martin Ledolter, the Managing Director of Austrian Development Agency, today signed a 1.3 million Euro funding agreement for the establishment of the Caribbean Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (CCREEE). The ceremony was also attended by Al Binger, Energy Science Advisor of the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC) and SIDS DOCK Coordinator.
MALAYSIA - FAREWEL
VIENNA, 16 December 2014 - Dato' Selwyn Vijayarajan Das, Permanent Representative of Malaysia to UNIDO, paid his farewell visit to the Director General, who thanked the Permanent Representative for his contribution to the work of UNIDO during his term of office. Das expressed his satisfaction for the excellent cooperation and assured the Director General of his Government’s readiness to continue working with UNIDO and sharing experiences with other countries.
THAILAND - CREDENTIALS
VIENNA, 16 December 2014 – The Director General received the credentials of the new Permanent Representative of Thailand to UNIDO, Arthayudh Srisamoot. Welcoming the Permanent Representative, the Director General thanked him for his country’s support to ISID and commended Thailand’s policy towards industrialization. He also informed him about the status of the new SDGs. Srisamoot underlined that his Government’s policy for inclusive and sustainable development was in line with ISID.
SENEGAL - CREDENTIALS
VIENNA, 8 December 2014 - El Hadji Abdoul Aziz Ndiaye, Permanent Representative of Senegal to UNIDO, presented his credentials to the Director General. Recalling that Senegal was one of the pilot countries for UNIDO’s ISID Programme for Country Partnership, the Director General expressed his appreciation for the country’s strong ownership. He briefed the Permanent Representative on the SDG process, and stressed the importance of sustainable industrialization for economic development.
