Seventh ISID Forum: Partnerships for Industry 2030

BACKGROUND

UNIDO organizes regular forums on Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development (ISID). These forums bring together UNIDO Member States and selected partners to engage in a dialogue on various aspects of industrial development, exchange knowledge, forge partnerships and shape strategies for advancing ISID. The first such forum was held in 2014. So far, six ISID forums have been organized by UNIDO. In November 2018, an advanced session of the Seventh ISID Forum entitled “Insights from PCP countries” was held in Vienna, on the sidelines of the forty-sixth session of the UNIDO Industrial Development Board, as a prelude to this year’s event.

The Seventh ISID Forum will feature an interactive discussion on “Partnerships for Industry 2030”. It will take place on 3 November 2019 as part of the eighteenth session of the UNIDO General Conference, being held under the overarching theme of “Industry 2030 – Innovate. Connect. Transform our Future”.

FORMAT

The Forum will consist of two moderated panel discussions.

The first session will look at how multi-stakeholder partnership models, such as UNIDO’s Programme for Country Partnership (PCP), can support the achievement of national development goals and the realization of the Third Industrial Development Decade for Africa (IDDA III). The panel will feature high-level government officials from PCP countries in addition to representatives of international and regional organizations.

The second session will highlight how various actors contribute knowledge, expertise, technology and financial resources to support the industrialization process, particularly in Africa. The panel will comprise representatives from governments, financial institutions, the private sector and other development partners.
