Fourth Donor Meeting

Following the successful results achieved from three similar events held in Vienna, the fourth Donor Meeting will highlight the contribution of donors to UNIDO’s work. In particular, success stories from UNIDO’s technical cooperation portfolio will be presented, with a focus on their impact and relevance in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) under the theme of this year’s General Conference, “Partnering for impact — achieving the SDGs”. The meeting will feature interactive discussion sessions in which both donors and beneficiaries are invited to participate.

Donor representatives, Permanent Missions, the beneficiaries of the UNIDO programmes, and special invitees and participants of the UNIDO General Conference are invited to attend.

LI Yong has had an extensive career as a senior economic and financial policymaker throughout which he has accorded great importance to fiscal and financial measures in favour of agricultural development and small and medium-sized enterprises, the cornerstones for creating economic opportunities, reducing poverty and promoting gender equality.

11:15 a.m. - Japan-UNIDO partnership: Fostering technology transfer towards achieving the SDGs

Satoshi Kurimoto
Technical Cooperation Division, Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan
Kurimoto has recently been nominated as Director of the Technical Cooperation Division at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan. He has served for METI and other government agencies for over twenty years. Before joining the Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau of METI, he worked at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as Energy Specialist from 2014 to 2017 mostly focusing on the implementation of renewable energy projects and adoption of smart grid technologies in developing countries.
Mitsuhiro Wada
First Secretary
Embassy of Japan in Lebanon
Wada has been serving as the First Secretary for the Embassy of Japan in Lebanon since October 2017. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2003, and has held numerous positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, including in the office handling summit logistics for the G7 Summit in Toyako, Hokkaido, Japan, and as Second Secretary at the Embassy of Japan in Italy and, subsequently, Lebanon until August 2017.
Miguele Makari
Lebanese University
Makari is a student of interior design at Lebanese University in her hometown Zgharta, in the North of Lebanon, a region destabilized by the influx of displaced Syrians. Makari has participated in a skills training on furniture production developed and delivered under the UNIDO-Japan Furniture Project, which has given her the opportunity to experience current furniture trends and state-of-the-art furniture production firsthand.
Shiferaw Feyissa Balcha
Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer
Adama Science and Technology University, Ethiopia
After acquiring his MSc and BSc degrees in Mathematics from Addis Ababa University, Dr. Balcha obtained his PhD degree in Applied Mathematics at the Indian Institute of Technology in Roorkee (IIT Roorkee). Dr. Balcha was Lecturer and Assistant Professor of applied mathematics for more than 20 years. In addition to his academic contribution, he also served as Dean for Community Service and Technology, Associate Dean for Research of Postgraduate Studies, and Dean at the faculty of Natural Sciences.

11:45 a.m. - Stronger in partnership: Sweden and Finland supporting industrial skills development

Hannu Kyröläinen
Permanent Mission of Finland to the United Nations
Ambassador Kyröläinen is Permanent Representative of Finland to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Vienna and WA Chair. Prior to this, he served as a Senior Expert on Security Policy at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, as an Adviser on Sustainable Development to the President of the Republic of Finland and has worked in several different positions at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. He holds a Master of Social Science (International Affairs) from the University of Tampere.
Per-Einar Tröften
Programme Manager
Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA)
Per-Einar Tröften has held various positions at the Swedish SIDA since 1999. Presently, he is a senior program manager at SIDA's Department for International Organisations and Policy Support, where he handles support for the Education sector as well as for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH). He holds an MSc in Geosciences and a PhD in Geology from Stockholm University.
Teppo Kettula
Aika Group, Finland
Teppo Kettula is the CEO of Aika Group, and has over 7 years of experience in building national and regional innovation systems as well as development programs. He has also served in the diplomatic corps in Tokyo, Japan, developing scientific and industrial cooperation on university, public sector and corporate levels. He holds an MSc degree from Helsinki University of Technology and an MBA from University of Wales.
Lucett Ramokgopa
Director of Business Development
EON Reality, South Africa
Lucett Ramokgopa is the Director of Business Development at EON Reality and for the Tshwane Interactive Digital Centre in Pretoria, South Africa. Her involvement with VR / AR dates back to 2004, when she first recognized the potential benefits that can come from its use in technical applications, as well as for skills and knowledge development. She holds a Diploma and a Bachelor of Technology degree in Transport and Logistics Management from the University of Johannesburg.

12:15 p.m. - European Union-UNIDO cooperation: Quality Infrastructure supporting Nigeria to overcome the trade barriers of dried beans

Didier Lenoir
Delegation of the European Union to the United Nations in Vienna
Didier Lenoir is the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to the United Nations in Vienna. During his career, he has served in various capacities at the European Union External Action Service, at the Council of the European Union, at the French Delegation of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in Brussels and at the Ministry of Defense in Paris. He holds a Bachelor's degree in History from the Institut d'études politique de Paris.
Olusegun Awolowo

Nigerian Export Promotion Council
Olusegun Awolowo is the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of the Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Nigeria’s apex organization for the promotion of non-oil exports to diversify the Nation’s economy. He leads a team of nearly 400 staff spread across 15 offices with the headquarters in Abuja.
Abimbola Alawode
Rhabe Ventures Limited, Nigeria
Abimbola Alawode is an entrepreneur and Chief Executive Officer of Rhabe Ventures Limited. Rhabe Ventures Limited focusses on the processing and packaging of food ingredients and African foods and snacks, with a vision of conserving Nigerian food culture by exporting these products to Nigerians in the diaspora. Abimbola attended the University of Portsmouth.
Adegboyega Moses Adewumi
Head of Inspection
Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service
Adegboyega Moses Adewumi has been working with the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS) for more than 20 years. He is the Head of the Inspection section at the NAQS South West Zone in Lagos, Nigeria, and a member of the Standard Committee of the International Plant Protection Convention (deposited with the Director-General of the FAO) representing Africa.
Ozigis Abdulsalam
Deputy Director
National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control of Nigeria
Over the past 28 years, Abdulsalam has worked in several positions at the NAFDAC headquarters coordinating collaborations with donor agencies, development organizations and other multi-sectoral partners in food safety and nutrition areas. He is also a member of leading scientific and professional organizations, such as the International Institute for Development and Research (IIDR).

Hiroshi Kuniyoshi
Deputy to the Director General
Hiroshi Kuniyoshi is the Deputy to the Director General and the Managing Director of External Relations and Field Representation at UNIDO. He was previously Head of the UNIDO Investment and Technology Promotion Office (ITPO) in Tokyo, Japan, where he worked closely with Japanese industries in areas related to technology transfer and investments to developing countries.
