IDDA3: Helping Africa leapfrog its industrial development

Objective
Building on the momentum gained through the high level event on 21 September which was co-organized by UNIDO, AUC, UNECA AfDB and OOSA, in the margins of the 72nd United Nations General Assembly and which was titled “Third Industrial Development Decade for Africa (2016-2025): From Political commitment to actions on the ground,” the side event will deliberate on how best to operationalize and implement IDDA III and take stock of the progress made by various stakeholders in IDDA III implementation. It will also discuss key elements and best practices for partnerships to enhance Africa’s industrialization within the IDDA III framework.
Overall the event is expected to arrive at some concrete outcomes to guide the operationalization of IDDA III. The event is also expected to increase visibility and strengthen co-operation and partnership in the development and implementation of the decade’s programmes and projects which are important and necessary for the achievement of higher development impact.
Expected Outcomes
1. Appreciation of best approaches and practices/strategies for the operationalization and implementation of IDDA III.
2. Identification of key elements and best practices for partnerships to enhance Africa’s industrialization within the IDDA III framework. The event will consist of two parts and will be moderated by a renowned media personality.
