UNIDO is the specialized agency of the United Nations that promotes industrial development for poverty reduction, inclusive globalization and environmental sustainability. In line with its mandate, UNIDO coined the concept Green Industry to place sustainable industrial development in the context of new global sustainable development challenges and contribute to the transition towards a Green Economy. UNIDO’s Green Industry Initiative was launched in 2009 during the first International Conference on Green Industry in Asia.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), as an integral part of the State Council, is the state agency of the People's Republic of China in charge of the regulation and development of industrialization and informationization. MIIT is responsible for formulating and implementing policies that promote energy conservation, resource-efficiency and cleaner industrial production and communications. It also coordinates the application of new products, technologies, equipments and materials.
